Physician Assistants <ul><li>Task: </li></ul><ul><li>Examine patients by taking into consideration past medical history and symptoms to make diagnosis </li></ul><ul><li>Decide proper medication to be given after approval of physician </li></ul><ul><li>In the hospital setting, they provide assistance during medical procedures </li></ul><ul><li>By visiting patients on routine hospital rounds, they are in charge of keeping up to date records. </li></ul>
  3. 3. <ul><li>Knowledge: </li></ul><ul><li>Medicine and dentistry education- recognizing </li></ul><ul><li>symptoms and relating them to a diagnosis </li></ul><ul><li>Biological terminology </li></ul><ul><li>Customer and personal service- providing others with helpful services relating to their needs </li></ul><ul><li>Other psychological knowledge comes into play on a daily basis </li></ul><ul><li>Education: </li></ul><ul><li>This includes passing the Physician Assistant </li></ul><ul><li>National Certifying Examination after successfully </li></ul><ul><li>graduating from alternate PA education programs. </li></ul>

  6. 6. WAGE$ The median income for first year graduates is $74,00. After a few years of experience, most earn about $97,000. Job Outlook An increase in health care will cause the average employment of physician assistants to increase by approximately 39%. Employees in this field will always be needed.

Accountant <ul><li>Task: </li></ul><ul><li>Work for companies or government agencies to keep track of their spending and managing the money that they earned </li></ul><ul><li>Must keep accurate records for the company so they can make accurate observations and maintain a budget </li></ul><ul><li>Give the different companies and people advice on what to invest their money in and what would be the most beneficial </li></ul><ul><li>In charge of computing the taxes owed by the company and creating tax return statements. </li></ul>
  8. 8. <ul><li>Knowledge </li></ul><ul><li>Mathematics- knowing algebra, calculus, and statistics and applying them to everyday life </li></ul><ul><li>Clerical- managing files and records, office procedures and terminology </li></ul><ul><li>Economic- knowledge of the financial market and accounting principles; learning what to look for when analyzing financial data. </li></ul><ul><li>Education </li></ul><ul><li>Most accountant positions require at least a bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field. </li></ul><ul><li>Some employers prefers candidates with a master’s degree or business administration </li></ul>

Related Occupations Economist budget analyst tax examiner Earnings: The average salary for a starting accountant is about $45,000 and reach up to $102,000. Job Outlook: Growth of the economy provides more jobs for accountants and auditors. Employment for accountants is expected to rise 22% between 2008-2018.

Paralegals <ul><li>Task: </li></ul><ul><li>Consists of preparing legal documents and filing out other necessary paper work </li></ul><ul><li>Have to meet with clients to prepare certain information for the case </li></ul><ul><li>All paperwork must be handled by them first in order to keep accurate records for the lawyer </li></ul><ul><li>They file their client’s pleading with the court clerk. </li></ul>

Knowledge Laws and legal codes- it is necessary to understand basic laws The English language- how to convey information affectively Clerical Work Customer Service Education Most paralegal programs that are offered lead to an associate degree. Graduation from an American Bar Association approved program can enhance a paralegal’s opportunities.

SKILLS Critical Thinking- weighing out the strengths and weaknesses of possible options Time management- balancing out your priorities Writing- using appropriate writing techniques to deliver the right information ABILITIES Oral comprehension Oral expression Written comprehension Earnings: A paralegal’s salary depends on many factors including experience, education, and location. Top wages are approximately $70,000 in a large firm.

JOB OUTLOOK Employment of paralegals is supposed to increase by 28% in the next ten years. They will be expected to perform a more wider variety of jobs to make for more efficient business.
  15. 15. <ul><li>seems like the perfect fit. I consider my self an “investigative” person which is one of the recommended interests for this career. I enjoy problem solving and working with different sets of data. I think I would enjoy being a physician assistant in my future! </li></ul>My Favorite Career… Out of the these top three careers that I researched, my favorite occupation is a physician assistant. In school, biology is one of my favorite subjects which explains my interest in the medical field. Learning about the human body and different diseases has always interested me and
