Starting Your Research • Find the starting book for your paper using POLAR or OhioLINK. • Narrow your paper using topics you would like to pursue further from your book. • Use your book’s bibliography to find some starter sources. • Explore Heterick Library’s catalog POLAR and OhioLINK’s catalog for book sources. • Explore Heterick Library’s databases for journal and scholarly articles.

  • 4. Find Books in POLARPOLAR is the library’s catalog. POLAR opens to the BASIC(keyword) search. Keyword searching is great for beginningyour research to get a big picture of what is available on yourtopic.
  • 5. Find Books in POLARResults Screen in POLAR, find books using theCall #. Heterick Memorial Library uses theDewey Decimal System.
  • 6. Find Books in POLARUse subject headings to find morematerials on your topic.
  • 7. Find Books in OhioLINK•OhioLINK is a consortium of most of the college and university libraries in Ohio.•You may request items from the OhioLINK catalog to be delivered to the ONU library.•Requests generally arrive in 5-7 working days.•No charge.•May renew 3 times.
