land use

 1. 1. LAND USE Aisa B. Justice B. Mikahl D. Forrest T.
 2. 2. Introduction

Shopping centers are frequently constructed with inadequate total planning.

Communities are quick to see the potential positive economic spinoff of a shopping center being developed, but tend to downplay potential negative impacts of such development.

To understand what environmental problems may arise from the construction of a shopping center, it is necessary to analyze an existing or proposed facility.

 3. 3. Procedure
 4. 4. Procedure

Choose partner(s) and decide what mall to got too

Go to the mall and survey consumers

3. Analyze shopping center and answer questions in part 5

4. Analyze data and answer questions in part 6

5. Create presentation

 5. 5. The Mall

At least 90% of water can not steep directly into the ground

The average height of the trees are 45+ feet(1371.6 cm).

The tree were planted in boxes or beds

80-90% of the parking lot was filled.

The mall and the area around it looked ok.

 6. 6. The Mall

Some people really did not care about how the mall looks but others say it could look better. Some people say that it was dirty, some parent don’t want there child there to late because of gangs and shooting around their neighborhood.

There are brown stains on the concrete from water runoff and the only wildlife there was tiny little brown bird and some pigeons. The mall seems like it is used for an economic role.

They could have a better water runoff system to remove brown stains. One big large shopping center is better than smaller ones because people can go in one place instead of driving around. It could be more focus on an environmental friendlier impact.

 7. 7. The Mall

If we were design the mall we would have a better run of system, better energy use and have more flowers and trees ,but not too many trees to attract deer, to make the mall more attract and we will added a better entrances and exits for cars.

Around the 80+ stores mall you can say that the road were widened but you probably could not tell due to car driving over the roads all the time being a popular area.

There were some evidence that trees were removed to make the mall due to having very large trees in the back ground. There were some evidence of tree removal or a farm or residential area but you can see the tall trees in the back of the mall. They could have incorporated trees by having them suck up the water runoff and provide shade for the people

 8. 8. Data Survey
 9. 9. Did you live in this area before the shopping center was constructed? Question 2 What was here? Some people gave their opinion of what was there. They said there were trees and it was kind of grassy.
 10. 10. What problems do you notice that are associated with the shopping center (noise, traffic, etc.)?
 11. 11. Is the shopping center’s interior aesthetically pleasing to you?
 12. 12. Is the shopping center’s exterior aesthetically pleasing to you?
 13. 13. Do you feel crime in your neighborhood has changed with the construction of the shopping center?
