    • What is Digital Storytelling?
      • Using interactive digital media to move through information.
      • This can be accomplished by using components such as keyboards, voices, movements or pointing devices.
      • Interacting with digital media is unique/important and is continuing to change how students learn.

    • The Importance of Digital Storytelling
      • Finding creative ways to reach students.
        • We certainly recall a time when instructors would write notes on a chalkboard for us (students) to copy.
      • Allows teachers and students to develop stories using self-expression. (Shelly, Gunter, & Gunter, 2010)
        • “ Studies inidcate that students retain approximately 20% of what they see; 30% of what they hear; and 50% of what they see and hear”
    • Ways to Incorporate Digital Storytelling
      • Powerpoint/Keynote
      • Slingbox
      • Camtasia Studio
      • iMovie (or Final Cut)
      • Photo Galleries
      • Web links
    • For the Student
      • Students have the opportunity to learn through this creative process and, as stated previously, should retain more information because they will recall more information if the material is seen and heard during lessons.
      • Additionally, students will understand the need to learn and adapt to evolving technology, as their futures depend on utilizing digital media.
    • For the Educator
      • Engaging students is a difficult task and using digital media/digital storytelling will serve as a unique way to reach students.
      • Digital storytelling is convenient for educators because creating lessons with tools such as powerpoint is very efficient.

    • Conclusion
      • Digital storytelling gives educators the opportunity to engage students by using creative and efficient methods.
      • Educators can continue to find ways to incorporate digital media into the classroom, which shows students the importance of adapting to technological advancements.
