  • LED ZEPPELIN: THE IMMIGRANT SONG
    • A-ah-ahh-ah, ah-ah-ahh-ah We come from the land of the ice and snow from the midnight sun where the hot springs flow The hammer of the gods will drive our ships to new land To fight the horde and sing and cry, Valhalla, I am coming On we sweep with, with threshing oar Our only goal will be the western shore Ah-ah-ahh-ah, ah-ah-ahh-ah We come from the land of the ice and snow from the midnight sun where the hot springs blow How soft your fields, so green can whisper tales of gore, of how we calmed the tides of war We are your overlords On we sweep with, with threshing oar Our only goal will be the western shore S-so now you better stop and rebuild all your ruins for peace and trust can win the day despite of all you're losin' Ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh Ahh, ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh Ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh

  • GREENLAND: AN EXTREME ENVIRONMENT LEARNING OBJECTIVES: 1. To locate Greenland. 2. To understand why Greenland is an example of an extreme environment. POSSIBLE EXAM QUESTIONS 1. Where is Greenland? 2. Provide EVIDENCE to EXPLAIN why Greenland is an example of an extreme environment.

    • 2. Provide EVIDENCE to EXPLAIN why the environment they are working in is an extreme environment.
  • HOW DO ICE CORES WORK?
  • Greenland is a landscape with a harsh frozen climate. 80% of land is beneath ice. Greenland summer are long and light, winter days are dark and cold. The region is used for climatic research. Ice cores reveal information about past climate. Winter temperatures in the centre of Greenland range from -20 °C to-60 °C .
  • TOURIST INFORMATION Explain how this makes Greenland an extreme environment Highlight keywords linked with extreme environments CULTURE AND HISTORY: The ancient culture is still alive: Inuit drum dance, kayak performance and colourful national costumes. Arts and crafts have developed over generations. MIDNIGHT SUN: During the Arctic summer the sun never sets. In the autumn, the winter and the spring northern lights sweep across the dark sky above snow-covered mountains. DOG-SLEDGE: Hunters and ice fishermen in Greenland still rely of the dog-sledge rather than the snowscooter. Be their guest - driving dog-sledge is an experience of a lifetime! CRUISE AND FLY: Here it's not just a matter of getting from A to B. Flying in Greenland is a stunning experience. Cruising Greenland is no less impressive, you're in the sea of icebergs and whales. ANIMAL LIFE: Our fauna: Large whales, seals and walruses. Musk oxen, reindeers and polar bears. The animals of the Arctic! OUTDOOR LIFE: With only 55,000 inhabitants, Greenland offers space and a challenge for hikers. For anglers. For kayak. For mountain climbers and mountain bikers. ICE AND SNOW: Icebergs in all shapes and sizes. Dramatic glaciers and an endless ice cap. Winter sports all year round. Clear Arctic air.
