FMI Sustainable Seafood Committee Mission The FMI Sustainable Seafood Committee works in a precompetitive manner for the good of the entire food retail industry to: •Identify and prioritize issues for action •Develop tools and resources on seafood sustainability for the industry •Facilitate collaboration and cooperation within the supply chain •Make recommendations to FMI’s committees and Board of Directors on policy and program development 3

FMI’s Sustainable Seafood Committee Accomplishments and Highlights From 2008 to today the SSC has: • • • • Initiated industry dialogue with multiple stakeholders Developed FMI’s Sustainable Seafood Policy Statement Created Sustainable Seafood Tools: Sustainable Seafood 101’s; Sustainable Seafood Toolkit Participated in educational sessions on behalf of FMI and the SSC at various seafood and food industry events Ongoing work with all stakeholders to move industry forward faster 4

FMI’s Sustainable Seafood Policy Adopted by the FMI Board 2009 FMI endorses and recommends the following for our membership: Programs to promote a sustainable seafood supply Learning about issues around sustainable seafood Utilizing sustainable seafood resources from FMI and others Considering sustainability of seafood supply in procurement policies Exploring sustainable seafood certification programs 5
