A=Alarm
C=Contain
E=Extinguish or E=Evacuate
4. FIRE ALARM
• “Code Red please report to the Business Office”
• Close all doors
• Clear the corridors
• Await further instruction
• Evacuate only if told to do so by the Director of
Clinical Operations or designee
5. COMMAND POST
• The Command Post is located
in the Business Office
• The alternate Command Post
is the Lounge
• The Director of Clinical
Operations or designee will
report to the Command Post
6. EVACUATION
If evacuation of patients is necessary:
• Discharged to home if possible
• Transferred to the treating Urologist’s
hospital, University Hospital or SBMC
• All staff, physicians, patients, visitors, etc.
will exit through:
• Front door
• Double doors
• Rear door of the facility
7. FIRE/FIRE DRILL IS
OVER
• The fire alarm stops sounding
• The strobe lights stop flashing
• “Code Red all clear. All Staff,
patients and visitors may move
freely throughout the facility.”
8. DISASTER
• “Code Triage please report to the Business
Office.”
• Await further instructions
• Disaster is over when you hear
“Code Triage all clear. All staff,
patients and visitors may move freely
throughout the Facility.”
9. EMERGENCY
• External and Internal Panic buttons
– The External Button notifies UMDNJ
Public Safety of an emergency at the
Center. These are located:
• Under counter in Business Office
• Recovery Room next to Soiled Utility
entrance
• ESWL Suites
– The Internal Panic Button notifies the
Staff of an emergency within the Center.
It is located:
• Under the Business Office counter
10. FYI
• UMDNJ Public Safety responds to fires, emergencies at
The Stone Center
• The Newark Fire Department responds to any fires at
The Stone Center
• When the external panic button is pushed, a UMDNJ
Police Office will respond to The Stone Center
• At the entrance doors there is a camera to monitor who
comes in to The Center. All are “buzzed” into The
Stone Center
• The Stone Center has its own Security System
• There are fire alarm pull boxes by the front door, double
doors and rear door in The Stone Center
