    • Hewlett-Packard(HP) was established
    by Bill Hewlett and Dave Packard 1939
    in Palo Alto, CA.
    • HP is a technology company that
    operates in more than 170 countries
    around the world. It explore how
    technology and services can help people
    and companies address their problems
    and challenges, and realize their
    possibilities, aspirations and dreams.
  • 4. Introduction
    • The company was founded in a one-car garage in Palo Alto during a fellowship they had with a past professor at Stanford.
    • 5. Hewlett and Packard tossed a coin to decide whether the company they founded would be called H-P or P-H. Packard won the toss but named their electronics manufacturing enterprise the “ Hewlett- Packard Company”.

    • HP is one of the worlds largest information technology companies and operates in nearly every country.
    • 6. HP specializes in developing and manufacturing computing, data storage, and networking hardware, designing software and delivering services.

    • Hewlett-Packard (HP) started with an initial capital investment of US$538.
    • 7.  HP incorporated on August 18, 1947 and went public on November 6, 1957.
    • 8. HP’s very first financially successful product was a precision audio oscillator , the Model HP200A.

    • One of the company's earliest customers was The Walt Disney Company, which bought eight Model 200B oscillators.
    • 9. From the 1940s until well into the 1990s the company concentrated on making electronic test equipment.

    • In 1960’s HP partnered with Sony and the Yokogawa Electric companies in Japan to develop several high-quality products.
    • 10. Products of HP with Sony and the Yokogawa Electric companies were not a big success.
    • 11. HP and Yokogawa formed a joint venture (Yokogawa-Hewlett-Packard) in 1963 to market HP products in Japan.
    • 12. In 1970’s HP is identified as the worlds
    first marketed personal computer.

    • In 1980’s HP introduced printers and scanners.
    • 14. In 1986 HP registered the domain hp.com, making it the ninth internet.com domain ever to be registered.
    • 15. In 1987, the Palo alto garage where Hewlett and Packard started their business was designated as a California State historical landmark.
    • 16. In 1990’s HP opened hpshopping.com as a subsidiary to sell their products directly to customers.

    • From 1995 to 1998, Hewlett-Packard were sponsors of the English football team Tottenham Hotspur.
    • 17. In 2002 HP merged with Compaq. Following this , HP became a major player in desktops, laptops, and servers for many different markets
    • 18. In 2010 it was announced that HP would be acquiring palm to provide IPAQmobile products.
  • History
    • HP’s latest move marked its incursion into enterprise networking market dominated by Cisco.
    • 19. The addition of palm brings HP a mobile operating platform known as WebOS.
    • 20. HP today not only supplies software and hardware but also services for IT infrastructure.
