million in March 2015. On March 26, 2015,
Twitter officially relaunched the application on

on Android. It now boasts over 2 million active
daily users.

Reggie Brown, then Stanford University
students. Using the application, users can take
photos, record videos, add text and drawings,
and send them to a controlled list of recipients.
These sent photographs and videos are known
as "Snaps". Users set a time limit for how long
recipients can view their Snaps as of March
2015, the range is from 1 to 10 seconds.

Social Media Diary
• Write a blog post chronicling (by the minute) all of your social media usage for 24 hours.
• The blog post should be in the form of a timeline and should include details about the channels you
used, how long you used them, why you used them and the context in which you used them.
• Include 2 pieces of media in your blog post (screen shot of your phone, picture from your day, embed a
post you shared on one of your social channels, etc.)
• Conclude the post by reflecting on your social media consumption.
• Questions to consider: How did it fit into your day? Did you rely on social media more/less than you
expected? How did it impact your decision making? How do you think your life would be different
without social media? How would you communicate differently? How does your social media usage
compare to the 28% of time the average user spends on social networking sites?
