A great wave of dust Sweeping towards us Over our beautiful land The glorious meadows The fields of wheat All turned to desert A sea of sand

Chasing me, finding me, filling me, absorbing me, exhausting me, choking me.

I’m dissolving into this nightmare

It whirls ripples and swirls. A sad tsunami, swallowing up the desperate people.

It rises falls and darts. Leaving the earth behind, layered in tragedy

I stand, staring across the empty land, my eyes blurred with the sting of tears. The dream of living here. As dead as the dust beneath my feet.
