  • 2. INTRODUCTIONAxl Rose (William Bruce Bailey) was born in 1962 in Lafayette,Indiana. He is anAmerican singer, songwriter and musician.He is the lead vocalist and only remaining original member of the hard rock band “Guns N Roses” with whom he enjoyedgreat success and recognition in the late 1980s and early 1990s, before disappearing from the public eye forseveral years.But in 2001 appeared againwith a new lineup of the band in Rock in Rio, and subsequently played periodicconcert tours, before releasing the long- delayed album Chinese Democracy in 2008.Rose has been named one of the greatest singers of all time by variousmedia outlets, including Rolling Stone and NME.
  • 3. BIOGRAPHY When he was 2 years his father abandoned them, and soon after his mother remarried to Stephen L. Bailey.Rose did not know that Bailey was not hisreal father until he was 17 years. His real father was found assassinated in 1984.After knowing he was a juvenile delinquent and was arrested 22 times. After being threatened by the authorities to be a habitual offender moved to L.A, California. Shortly after his arrival he joined the band Rapidfire.The group disbanded and joined LA Guns, to the formation of Hollywood Rose with his childhood friend IzzyStradlin. In March 1985, Rose andTracii Guns formed Guns N Roses(merger of LA Guns and Hollywood Rose).
  • 4. By June, after several line-up changes, theband consisted of Rose, lead guitarist Slash,rhythm guitarist IzzyStradlin, bassist Duff McKagan, and drummer Steven Adler.
  • 5. They released their first album (Live?! * @ Like a Suicide) in 1986.
  • 6. A year later, in 1987 they released Appetitefor Destruction, with the success of the single “Sweet Child O’Mine”.
  • 7. During the bands performance at theMonsters of Rock festival in Castle Donington, England in August 1988, two fans werecrushed to death when many in the crowd of 107,000 began slam-dancing to "Its So Easy". Soon after, in 1988 released their third album: GNR Lies.
  • 8. After some personnel changes in the band, In1991, no album to promote the band came outfor 2 ½ years on tour of Use Your Illusion.In September of that year, they released the album Use Your Illusion I and Use Your Illusion II.
  • 9. In November 1991, IzzyStradlin left the band due to internal complications.Guns N Roses played its final show of the Use YourIllusion Tour on July 17, 1993 at River PlateStadium in Buenos Aires.In November of thatyear, Guns N Roses released "The Spaghetti Incident?", a cover album of mostly punk songs, which proved less successful than itspredecessors.Slash finally left Guns N Roses in October 1996, followed by Matt Sorumsfiring in June 1997. Duff McKagan departedthe band in August of that year, leaving Rose and Dizzy Reed as the only remaining band members of the Use Your Illusion era.In January 2001, Rose resurfaced at Rock in Rio 3 with a new line-up of Guns N Roses,featuring lead guitarists Buckethead and Robin Finck, rhythm guitarist Paul Tobias, bassist Tommy Stinson, drummer Bryan "Brain" Mantia, and keyboardists Dizzy Reed and Chris Pitman.
