    • 8 th Grade Algebra 1-A Chapter 2-2 The Coordinate Plane
    • Terms and Concepts (A)
      • The coordinate system: formed by the right angle intersection of two number lines. The lines intersect at coordinate 0.
        • Look at example on top of page 58
    • Terms and Concepts (B)
      • Origin: the point located at (0, 0) on a coordinate plane.
      • Y-axis: the vertical number line (north, south)
      • X-axis: the horizontal number line (east, west)
      • Coordinate plane: the plane that contains the x and y axis
    • Terms and Concepts (C)
      • Ordered pair: used to locate any point on a coordinate plane.
        • The first number gives the x-axis coordinate
        • The second number gives the y-axis coordinate
      • Quadrant: four regions of the coordinate plane created by the x-axis and y-axis intersection.
        • 1: (+,+)
        • 2: (-,+)
        • 3: (-,-)
        • 4: (+,-)
    • Class assignment
