• Terms and Concepts (A)
• The coordinate system: formed by the right angle intersection of two number lines. The lines intersect at coordinate 0.
• Look at example on top of page 58
• Terms and Concepts (B)
• Origin: the point located at (0, 0) on a coordinate plane.
• Y-axis: the vertical number line (north, south)
• X-axis: the horizontal number line (east, west)
• Coordinate plane: the plane that contains the x and y axis
• Terms and Concepts (C)
• Ordered pair: used to locate any point on a coordinate plane.
• The first number gives the x-axis coordinate
• The second number gives the y-axis coordinate
• Quadrant: four regions of the coordinate plane created by the x-axis and y-axis intersection.
