  • 1. L-5 Problems on ppm to micrograms conversion Air Pollution and Control (Elective-I)
  • 2. If SO2, CO and NO2 are found out to be 1000 ppm, 600 ppm and 200 ppm respectively in a air quality survey. What are concentrations in µg/m3? If concentrations of SO2, CO and NO2 are given as 1200 ppm, 4000 ppm and 500 ppm respectively. What are their concentrations in µg/m3?
  • 3. The concentration of CO reaches in room to a level of 400 ppm. Express this value in µg/m3. The average daily concentration off SO2 is observed to be 415 µg/m3 at 250 C and 1 atmospheric pressure. Find out concentration of SO2 in ppm. The ozone concentration at 00 C and 1 atmospheric pressure found out to be 118 µg/m3.Find concentration of ozone in ppb.
  • 4. Calculate concentrations of following air pollutants in µg/m3.Assume STP conditions i) SO2 – 1100 ppm ii)CO – 1500 ppm iii)NO2 – 800 ppm The exhaust gas from an automobile contains 1.5% by volume of CO. What is concentration of CO in mg/m3 at 250 C and 1 atmospheric pressure?

The ozone concentration is observed to be 80 µg/m3 at an urban monitoring station. Does the value exceed the standard clean air? The NO and CO content of sample of air at 220 C and 1 atmospheric pressure is 20 and 100 ppm respectively. Calculate their concentration in µg/m3?
  • 6. Convert the following into ppm at 300 C i) Ozone – 25 µg/m3 ii)H2S – 15 µg/m3 Convert ozone concentration of 0.2 ppm to µg/m3if temperature is 300 C. 250 µg/m3 of ozone is present in the atmosphere at 25 0 C. What is the concentration of ozone in ppm and ppb.
  • 7. H2S concentration in the atmosphere is 25 ppm at 25 0 C. What is equivalent concentration in mg/m3? Do as directed i)CO – 100 µg/m3 (convert to ppb) ii)NO – 10 ppm (convert to mg/m3)
