Photgraphy and communication

  1. 1. photography and communication / ricardo mejia / photos: ricardo mejia
  2. 2. A simple communication model / communication consists of transmitting information from one person to another (Einar Faanes) sender message receiver
  3. 3. composition / the sender determines what the centre of interest of the communication work will be, and composes the elements accordingly.
  4. 4. composition / the rule of thirds is a guideline when you are compositing an image. The objective is to stop the subject(s) and areas of interest (such as the horizon) from bisecting the image, by placing them near one of the lines that would divide the image into three equal columns and rows, ideally near the intersection of those lines.
  5. 5. focal point / (also called emphasis) is where the focus is concentrated through design principles or meaning. To do this one develops points of interest to pull the viewer's eye to important parts of the viewer s body of the work
  6. 6. pattern and rhythm / Showing consistency with colors or lines. Putting a red spiral at the bottom left and top right, for example will cause the eye to move from one spiral, to the other, and everything in between.
  7. 7. define a concept / mind map is a good tool to define concepts and clarify structures p y about topics A mind map is a diagram used to represent words, ideas, tasks or other items linked to and arranged radially around a central key word or idea. It is used to generate, visualize, structure and classify ideas, and as an aid in study, organization, problem solving, decision making, and writing.
