What is Web/WWW? <ul><li>The World Wide Web (WWW or W3 and commonly known as the Web) is a system of interlinked  hypertext documents accessed via the Internet.  </li></ul><ul><li>With a web browser, one can view web pages that may contain text, images, videos, and other multimedia and navigate between them via hyperlinks. </li></ul><ul><li>Now we are using WEB2.0 </li></ul>

Web Documents <ul><ul><li>Web Documents are generally written in markup languages. </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Markup languages are designed for the processing, definition and presentation of text. </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>The language specifies code for formatting, both the layout and style, within a text file. </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>The code used to specify the formatting are called tags. </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>  HTML and XML is a an example of a widely known and used markup language. </li></ul></ul>

You must define your own tags </li></ul><ul><li>XML is designed to be self-descriptive </li></ul><ul><li>XML is a W3C Recommendation </li></ul>

Web Services <ul><li>Web Services can convert your application into a Web-application, which can publish its function or message to the rest of the world. </li></ul><ul><li>Web services are application components. </li></ul><ul><li>Web services communicate using open protocols. </li></ul><ul><li>Web services are self-contained and self-describing. </li></ul><ul><li>Web services can be discovered using UDDI. </li></ul><ul><li>Web services can be used by other applications. </li></ul><ul><li>XML is the basis for Web services. </li></ul>

Web Server( Apache ) <ul><li>A process that runs on a host that relays information to a client upon the client sending it a request. </li></ul><ul><li>A host computer on a network that holds information (eg, Web sites) and responds to requests for information. </li></ul><ul><li>Apache is web server software notable for playing a key role in the initial growth of the World Wide Web. </li></ul><ul><li>Apache is a open source server. </li></ul>
