Change in Humana’s hospital provider network
Dear Employer:
We would like to share some information with you regarding a change in Humana’s participating
network.
Because Rush will not honor terms of a December 2008 contract agreement with Humana, Humana is
terminating its contract with Rush. This means that effective November 15, 2009, Rush University
Medical Center, Rush Oak Park Hospital, Rush-Copley Medical Center, Riverside Medical Center and
Rush University’s affiliated physicians will be considered out-of-network for Humana members.
(Humana Medicare HMO members who access the Dreyer Medical Clinic will still be considered in-
network at Rush-Copley.)
Humana members will have continued access to 15,000 other health care providers and more than 80
premier facilities in the Chicagoland area, including Advocate, Loyola, Northwestern, Provena,
University of Chicago Medical Center and University of Illinois Hospital.
We sincerely regret any disruption this may cause for health plan members. We will be notifying
members who have utilized these facilities or physicians in the past year.
• The letter will request that members call Humana Customer Service or check Humana’s
Physician Finder Plus Web-based provider directory to confirm in-network providers.
• It is important to note that most PPO plans offer levels of coverage for out-of-network providers,
as well as in-network providers.
