    2. Introduction: What PortalEIR is • Project managed by the Andalusian Regional Ministry of Health • Developed by IAVANTE Foundation • Focused on residents education • Financed by the European Social Fund

    4. Introduction: Bird-view numbers •Above 1000 residents start each year •More than 1200 tutors •Around 70 education managers •More than 200 teachers •Increasing number of collaborators

    6. Problems: • Education management system geographically dispersed • Heterogeneous system • Old-fashioned processes • Resistance to change • Environment changes very fast
    7. The solution was not 1.0
    8. Solution: Features for Residents •Join with their tutors (through invitation). •See their evolution in several topics •Consult their roadmap in graphical and textual mode. •Publish clinical sessions, critical incidents reports. •Evaluate teaching •Self-evaluate learning •E-learning. •Etc.
    9. Solution: Features for Tutors •Review the evolution of their residents •Communicate with their residents. •Share workspaces with other tutors. •Self-evaluate teaching process •Etc.
    10. Solution: Features for Education Units •Publish documents of interest •Send information by e-mail and SMS. •Manage courses •Manage rotations •Reports about evaluation, teaching, learning, etc. •Automated processes
    11. Results: Numbers speaking •8500 registered users •60% of active users (before < 6%) •More than 12000 logins per month (before < 2000) •Number of registered tutors increased 10 times
    12. Conclusions •Web 2.0 approach definitely improves education management. •Web 2.0 approach increases residents and tutors activity. •Web 2.0 approach makes easier to deal with heterogeneous system
