2. My magazine has similar conventions as a real magazine, the mast head is very real and looks like a proper mast head. I think it challenges real music magazines masts heads. For the mise en scene I took the photos in a park and the lighting was day time. The photos are of girls, who are quite rock and roll which I thought portrayed my magazine well, because this is what genre it is. The costumes and props was just more rock and roll clothes, and then the rest was natural, I didn’t want posed photos, i wanted more normal, natural ones. In my magazine I featured girls, this isn’t because the magazine is aimed at girls, this was just what the photos were of. This was quite unconventional and limiting my audience. For the font and styles I research other magazine fonts and found the mast head that I wanted, and for the font I wanted a plain font to keep the magazine looking simple. From the research I did, this is how I chose to lay out my front cover, contents page and double page spread. I thought this was a conventional way of doing it. In conclusion I followed conventions by keeping my magazine to others and didn’t challenge the conventions by doing this. I kept my magazine simple also.
3. How does your music magazine represent particular social groups?
4. The social groups in my magazine I tried to represent ‘Rah’s’ which was what I got in ‘Find Your Tribe’ but I used a group of girls to show social groups in my magazine. All of the body poses are quite natural and aren’t posed, making them look like a more relaxed social group. Which is what my music magazine is, a more relaxed music magazine.
5. What kind of media institution might distribute your music magazine and why?
6. I think that my music magazine would fit well with Kerrang! And NME because it is the same genre as them and has the same themes.
7. Who would be the audience for your music magazine?
8. The core buyer of my magazines will be shops, selling on the magazine to the customers. And also my target audience will be the core buyers which will be 15-21 age group. From my audience questionnaire research, I have found that my target audience will buy my magazine because from the research I have put in the stuff they like inside my magazine. Because my magazine relates to everything my target audience is, the brands they wear the things they like.
10. I attracted my audience by having a different mast head and plain font. I kept the magazine simple, allowing the picture to be the eye catching and bold statement, drawing and attracting my audience to my magazine. Because I am targeting young people, I put a female on the front cover because both genders would read a magazine with a female on the front, there for attracting and reaching out to all audiences. I tried to keep the layout of my magazine simple, so it was easy to read.
