  • 14. Rapid Prototyping: Communicating the Idea There are Four Cs in Conversion Communicating the Idea You won’t always have time to do real user research or in- depth interviews. Fortunately, everybody falls into one of “The Four Cs,” all you need to do is give them what they need. The Four Cs are: • Confused people • Curious people • Convinced people • Continuing people Your goal is to move each “C” from “Confused” to “Continuing.”

Rapid Prototyping: Communicating the Idea Why… How… What Communicating the Idea “People don’t buy what you do, they buy why you do it.” - Simon Sinek • Why did you build/make your idea? • Why does your idea deserve to exist? • Why does your idea feel feel good? • How does your idea save time? • How does your idea make money? • How can I learn more about your idea? • What do you need for your idea to succeed? • What’s in it for me? • What are you going to do next?
  • 17. Rapid Prototyping: Rapid Prototyping: The Business Plan Communicating the Idea Nobody invests in a business plan. Investors need a business plan as a document that communicates ideas and information, but they invest in a company, in a product, and in people. • Executive Summary: Write this last. It’s just a page or two of highlights • Company Description: Legal establishment, history, start-up plans, etc. • Product or Service: Describe what you’re selling. Focus on customer benefits • Market Analysis: You need to know your market, customer needs, where they are, how to reach them, etc. • Strategy and Implementation: Be specific. Include management responsibilities with dates and budgets. Make sure you can track results • Management Team: Describe the organization and the key management team members. • Financial Analysis: Make sure to include at the very least your projected Profit and Loss and Cash Flow tables
  • 18. Rapid Prototyping: Rapid Prototyping: The Pitch Communicating the Idea Everybody on the team NEEDS to be able to effectively communicate the vision, purpose and potential Elevator Pitch vs Investor Pitch • Tell the story through the problem. Problem > Solution • Stress the benefits you provide, not the features • Avoid broad statements
  • 19. Rapid Prototyping: Communicating the Idea Customer Analysis Communicating the Idea Who, Where, What, When Who is the customer? What does the customer want to buy? When does the customer want to buy? What price is the customer willing to pay?
  • 20. Rapid Prototyping: Communicating the Idea Competitor Analysis Communicating the Idea Who else is in the this market? What are they doing for the customer? Do they supply a similar substitute product or service?
  • 21. Rapid Prototyping: Communicating the Idea Broader Industry Analysis Communicating the Idea Is industry growing or shrinking? What power do the suppliers have in the industry?
