Take a look at 1980 vs. 2010<br />5% of children considered obese<br />93% of children exercised at least 60 minutes daily<br />35% of families had gardens<br />Average time spent in front of T.V. was 60 minutes<br />Percentage of type 2 diabetes in children 6.5%<br />15% of children considered obese<br />70% of children exercised at least 60 minutes a day<br />75% of children eat 0-2 servings a day of vegetables<br />Average time spent using media platforms (TV, internet, social networking, video games..etc) is 3 hours<br />Percentage of type 2 diabetes in children 17%<br />

  15. 15. Quick, Cheap, and Easy eventually catches up to you<br />

  17. 17. Parents must lead the way by modeling healthy lifestyles<br />
  18. 18. Obesity is the #1 factor in childhood Diabetes<br />
  19. 19. If lifestyles do not change soon…<br />
  20. 20. Our children’s quality of life will go down.And they will be the first generation to see life expectancy drop.<br />
