A new study published in The Archives of Internal Medicine confirms that popular Type 2 diabetes drugs like Actos and Avandia may increase the risk of vision problems. In one of the largest clinicals investigating vision loss associated with the class of drugs called thiazolidinediones, researchers found that these drugs may increase the risk of macular edema, or swelling in the main part of the retina, which can result in blindness in one or both eyes.
