  • 2. American Symbols – Step 1 Chose your favorite American Symbol Examples: U.S. Flag Bald Eagle Statue of Liberty White House U.S. Constitution Declaration of Independence Liberty Bell
  • 3. American Symbols- Step 2 Description - describe three things about yoursymbol: Example: Statue of Liberty 305 feet tall 7 spikes in crown Located at the entrance to New York Harbor U.S. Flag 13 red and white stripes (for 13 original colonies) 50 white starts (for 50 states) Blue field represents perseverance and justice
  • 4. American Symbols-Step 3 Represents: What does your symbol represent? Examples: Statue of Liberty: represents Freedom, hope, liberty, flamebeacon of light, and safety. Bald Eagle: represents strength, courage ,nobility, U.S.A.national bird
  • 5. American Symbol-Step 4 Associated Holiday What Holiday is associated with your symbol. Example statue of liberty=4th of July U.S. Flag=Memorial Day, 4th of July Declaration of Independence 4th of July
  • 6. American Symbol –step 5 Hero What hero represents the symbol? Example: Statue of Libery Benjamin Franklin Immigrants like Einstein Bald Eagle: George Washington and Abraham Lincoln
  • 7. American Symbol - Step 6 Hero’s Achievement Diplomat, Revolutionary War, inventions, built America
  • 8. American Symbols- Step 7 Interesting Facts List at least two facts about your symbol Example Statue of Liberty: Nick name “Lady Liberty”,greeted European Immigrants
  • 9. American Symbols – Step 8 Create Pictoral Input Chart Sketch a picture of your symbol Label all parts of your symbol Example: Statue of Liberty Draw, then label crown, flame and everything she represents.
