Code of Library Behaviour The library is a sharing facility for teaching and learning. <ul><li>Respect yourself and the rights, feelings and safety of others. </li></ul><ul><li>Respect the right of others to work and relax in the library. </li></ul><ul><li>Complete your work in the library to the best of your ability. </li></ul><ul><li>Follow instructions and requests of teachers and library staff. </li></ul><ul><li>Look after library equipment, furniture and resources. </li></ul><ul><li>Be polite and courteous. </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Talk quietly. </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Move safely. </li></ul></ul><ul><li>Keep the library and its resources clean and tidy. </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Eat & drink outside only. </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Place used books on the returns trolley. </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Leave chairs & tables clean & tidy. </li></ul></ul><ul><li>Return borrowed items as quickly as possible so that they are available for others. </li></ul><ul><li>Get passes or Planner notes to come from class to the library. </li></ul>

Just read! <ul><li>Research, all around the world, has found that … </li></ul><ul><li>“ High school students who read VOLUNTARILY and REGULARLY get better results on school and national tests than students who rarely read”. </li></ul><ul><li>This is regardless of where they live, how wealthy or poor they are, and other socio-economic factors. </li></ul>

These activities ensure that: </li></ul><ul><li>You know your way around the library. </li></ul><ul><li>You can use the school intranet. </li></ul><ul><li>You are able to find resources from the catalogue. </li></ul><ul><li>Complete the essential tests & get your licence (+ tickets in the Year 7 Licensee prize Draw) </li></ul><ul><li>The Licence Booklet includes: </li></ul><ul><li>essential skill tests & creative design activities; </li></ul><ul><li>other optional activities & further information; </li></ul><ul><li>Steps to Success with The Information Process support for you in doing research tasks. </li></ul><ul><li>Essential tasks include: </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Library Orientation – mind map, glossary & plan </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Finding Resources (How to use Web Enquiry) </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Alphabetical Order – for Fiction shelving </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Dewey Decimal System – for Non-Fiction shelving </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Order in the Library Games </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>+ create a Personal Book Mark </li></ul></ul><ul><li>Your booklet will be kept in the library for completion in Term 1 2012. Prize Draw tickets are awarded for Essential & Optional Tasks.
