  • 1. Love, Deaf and the Bible “Love, Courtship and Marriage The Christian Deaf Way”
  • 2. LOVE… LoVe… love… ? Hmmm… What does it mean?
  • 3. Confused? But first!!! Let us group who we love before we explain L-O-V-E.
  • 4. There are two kinds of Love. FIRST: Love of GOD!!! – Also called “AGAPE” (Greek word), or God’s love to us. Remember John 3:16? “For GOD so LOVE the world, that HE gave HIS Only Son (Jesus) ….
  • 5. SECOND: Love of other person!!! – Also called “PHILEO” (another Greek word), which means brotherly or sisterly love. It is also called “neighbor love”. Bible says: Love your neighbor as yourself. Mark 12:31
  • 6. NOW, AGAPE is highest LOVE. Let’s focus more on PHILEO or NEIGHBOR LOVE.
  • 7. WHO is your NEIGHBOR? Family? ✔ Friends? ✔ Houses near your house? ✔ Classmates and teachers? ✔ Filipinos and government officials? ✔ Beautiful Deaf Girl? ✔✔✔✔✔ Handsome Deaf Boy? ✔✔✔✔
  • 8. WHO is your NEIGHBOR? Thenejon Del Mundo? ✔ President Noynoy Aquino? ✔ Manny Pacquiao? ✔ Your Enemy? Hmmmm….. Maybe … Not sure…
  • 9. What about… Poor street children? Person with no fingers or blind? Deaf or hard of hearing persons? Gays? Lesbians? People who borrow money from you and escape or did not pay?
  • 10. But the Bible says… … LOVE your enemies! Pray for those who persecute you! In that way, you will be acting as true children of your Father in heaven. For God gives his sunlight to both the evil and the good, and he sends rain on the just and on the unjust, too. If you love only those who love you, what good is that?
  • 11. What about LOVE to your own body and own life? God says you must take care of your body. “You shall love your neighbor the same as you are to love yourself.” - Matthew 22:39
  • 12. My PERSONAL OBSERVATION ABOUT DEAF LOVE AND DEAF CULTURE
  • 13. Deaf Love Culture #1 THREE DAYS COURTSHIP
  • 14. OK? Good? Right? Wait…. What does the Bible say? “Love is PATIENT. Love is kind.” 1 Corinthians 13:1
  • 15. Deaf Love Culture #2 COURT GIRL. GIVE THINGS. IF NOT PASS? RETURN ALL THINGS.
  • 16. OK? Good? Right? Wait…. What does the Bible say? “Be kindly … one to another … in honor (respect) preferring one another..” Romans 12:10
  • 17. Deaf Love Culture #3 COURT GIRL. GIVE THINGS. IF NOT PASS? EXCHANGE TO SEX.
  • 18. LOVE means SEX???
  • 19. OK? Good? Right? Wait…. What does the Bible say? “It is good for a man NOT TO TOUCH a woman.” 1 Corinthians 7:1
  • 20. Deaf Love Culture #4 COURT PURPOSE SEX FINISH SEX? HOLD OR CHANGE TO OTHER PERSON.
  • 21. OK? Good? Right? Wait…. What does the Bible say? “Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God?  You are not your own. You were bought at a price.  Therefore honor God with your body.” 1 Corinthians 6: 19-20
  • 22. Deaf Love Culture #5 SINGLE? HURRY MARRIAGE?
  • 23. OK? Good? Right? Wait…. What does the Bible (Apostle Paul) say? “I wish that all men were the same as I myself. But each one has his own gift from God, one in this manner and another in that. But I say to the unmarried: It is good for them if they remain single; but if they CANNOT CONTROL THEMSELVES, let them marry. For it is better to marry than to burn with passion.” 1 Corinthians 7:8-9
  • 24. Paul also said… “An unmarried person worries about how to please the Lord. But a married person has more worries. He must worry about the things of this world, (wife, food, support, etc.)” 1 Corinthians 7:32-33
  • 25. THINK! THINK! THINK! THINK!
  • 26. If you believe and love God, then you must obey Him. I cannot force you to accept and do what I say. But if you obey God, here is what He promised….
  • 27. “Be merciful, even as your Father is merciful. Judge not, and you will not be judged; condemn not, and you will not be condemned; forgive, and you will be forgiven; give, and it will be given to you; good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For the measure you give will be the measure you get back.” Luke 6:36-38
