Water Crisis - Hour Glass Pocket Dams
A New and Nature Compatible Concept for Harvesting
Conservation and Management of Water
A simple technique that can help life survive in drought and desert with
scanty rain fall

Fresh water is the foundation on which much of life exists on land. Fresh water resource
is finite and for many nations this resource is scarce in its availability. The source of
freshwater is largely rains that come in particular seasons. Much of the rain water
actually runs away. The demand for fresh water is growing in relation to growth of
population, agriculture and industries. The ground and flowing water is dipping very fast,
due to reckless human intervention and exploitation. With increased temperature of earth
and its atmosphere, the atmospheric demand is increasing as never before. The increasing
demand, depleting resource will soon create problems unless we take some measure to
harvest and conserve water. I am over looking the presentation of statistics of this
enormous problem facing humanity.
From time immemorial humans have used indigenous methods for rain harvesting and
storing to meet the water demands. History shows that civilization flourished in the banks
of rivers. The onus of supplying water in cities today exist in the hands of governments,
the common man who lives in cities engages himself with making money and dos not
even realize the importance of it. The governments have resolved to construction of huge
dams, in critical areas in order to supply water to cities. However these open resources
are tending to evaporate faster under the increasing atmospheric demand. Mans reckless
utilization of this precious resources is further augmenting the situation.

The changes in climatic pattern, the instability of earth, sun and solar system means
forces within earth and atmosphere is changing. This means we are open for huge earth
quakes that can wipe out the huge resources of water. Further the instability of human
mind manifesting as terrorism is another risk faced by humans. The loss of these big
dams sustaining large population of humans can cause havoc to humanity.
Here I propose a new concept that can come long way catching and using the precious
water for all purpose. As a freelance scientist and farmer, searching for truth of nature
and cutting edge question of nature and life, this and many more simple ideas occurred to
me several years back. I did test them indigenously and it was highly encouraging. But
my attempts to reach out to the temples of science and discuss them were a failure. I
restrained to publish the idea for a long time because the principle material I used for my
experiments was plastic. We humans tend to exploit partial knowledge and attempt
advance self, with least concern for the whole and its functioning. The world is already
faced with littered plastic around the world and I did not want the plastic to be littered
underneath it. So I wiped out the evidence of me conducting these experiments.
These ideas were only off hoots that emerged from my goal directed to bigger question of
nature and life and its oneness. This search has led the author to developing Living
Universe Theory in great detail.
I have chosen to write about this now because these practices are in line with Living
Universe Theory and nature compatible. The Living Theory is explained and defended in
great detail in my site. I believe the world and humanity can only survive the disorder and
destruction by knowing the truth of nature. My duty as researcher is to produce ideas to
solve the problems of the world in nature compatible way. After writing the truth of
nature and life revealed to me, I found it appropriate to share some of these ideas and
keep it on net to be re discovered and pressed into practice by governments wherever the
needs emerges.

The Origin of Pocket Dam concept
Like most ideas, this idea also emerged from the belly of nature. It came from
observation of dynamics of virgin forest. The health of plants its capacity withstand water
stress in forest, was really perplexing. The diversity of plants, different strata or canopy
of leaves that protects the soil from direct sunlight, the organic content of the soil etc
caught my attention and gave two directions to my thought
1] I began to work on multi cropping experiments in my field to mimic forest ecology.
2] It led me to conclude that organic content of the soil has direct relation to water
retention and utility. As an agriculturist I had already noted that the plants fertilized with
organic leaf manure was more resistant to water stress.
The leaf and organic manure seems to play two important role
• When the rains have started and environment enters the winding phase, the
decaying debris releases heat and nutrients into the soil. Thus it supports the
plants.
• When the environment turns and enters the light and expanding phase, the pores
of the decayed cells and the fibers trap water. This water becomes available to
plant and thus plants withstand the stress of water better compared to the plants
grown using chemical fertilizers.
When compared to the forest ecosystem, the cultivating fields are open and are exposed
to the sunlight. Thus it brings in water stress very quickly. This led me to think and
develop some means by which we can extend the loss of water and make it available to
plants. My finer communication with nature and life has already led me to visualizing
fibers and cells as hour glasses linked together. This led me to visualize the new
concept.
The Hour Glass - The New Concept for Water Conservation
An hour glass is tow celled vessel with central constricted portion. It occurred to me if I
can cut one side of the hour glass and open it up to rain I can collect water and restrict
and control its evaporation by the size of the constricted central hole connecting the two.
If you incorporate such a simple mechanical component to the root zone of plants, we can
3
reduce the water loss and increase the period of water available to plants. This can
conserve energy as well as water. It can act as mini dams.
My initial experiments were with twitched plastic bags with a small pipe in the middle.
The lower end was filled with sand and the upper portion with mud. Later to increase the
water retention capacity I used the powdered husks of coconut. We can conduct the same
experiment with potted plants with plastic bottles which are cut into two pieces and the
neck part is then invented on to the lower portion. The experiment gave very encouraging
results and I could visualize various extensions of them. But as a small farmer it was
beyond me to experiment it in large scale.

On any day, for many sound reasons, I would only favor organic cultivation and favor
“Fukuoka type of farming”. However, I found this concept that came to my mind helps
counter the forces of evaporation in a natural way and is much superior to modern
systems. When minds established in various temples of science join hands this thinking
can bloom in different manner. Let me write few line of thought in which my mind
traveled
1] The “hour glass concept” of control of water percolation and evaporation could be
extended to include possible third and fourth chambers in line with Quantum Pulse. [See
figure above]. Here the forth chamber is empty and stores water and divides the system
into two halves with four parts in line with quantum reality explored by the author. Now
this not only can be used for irrigation purpose but as means of trapping the valuable
resource of water that runs way during the rainy seasons. They can develop into mini
dams that store water much efficiently than the dams . They can effectively be used
in drought prone, desert areas to conserve water and help life survive.
2] The water retention capacity or available water capacity of the soil is drastically
increased with organic components of the soil. The powdered coconut husk thus is a big
contributor in the above concept. Since it is an organic component it is bound to break
down and the water holding capacity is bound to decrease with time cycle. The problem
can be solved from replacing non-degradable left and right twisted micro hourglasses.
The idea comes from the basic quantum mechanical design of living universe. Their
random orientation within the system will further help prevent water loss by creation of
micro pockets that hold water.
Note
The author is open for any government and private organization interested in exploring
this and many more Nature compatible Ideas that author accumulated in his search for
truth of life and nature that led him to unearthing the Living Universe Theory. The basic
research was done as a freelance researcher. The applied aspects of these theories

however cannot be explored without financial help and support. One can view the Living
Universe Theory in the following site and links there off

Huge energy and resources is spent building dams to more
Huge energy and resources is spent building dams to store water for irrigation and other purpose. They are open for evaporation. Increasing heat invariably means the evaporation loss is increasing and water stress is increasing. New nature compatible concept of Hour glass pocket dams is presented that can address the problem and help the drought prone and desert area support life less
