  • 1. Global Internet Usage To Grow In Next 5 Years
  • 2. By looking at the current situations and stats, the usage or consumption of the internet will increase rapidly in next five years. The traffic of internet protocol (IP) will increase due to more internet users, more online streaming and faster internet devices. According to latest reports of Cisco Visual Networking, the annual IP traffic which is projected till the end of year 2018 will be more than all traffic generated in last 29 years. The IP traffic generated from 1984 to 2013 was around 1.3 zettabytes which will be lesser than the expected annual IP traffic of around 1.6 zettabytes per year by 2018. Most of the internet protocol traffic in the forecast period will be derived from the mobile devices like Smart Phones, Tablets etc. There will be less amount of traffic from the fixed computers like PCs in comparison to mobile devices. Some other aspects which will add to higher usage of internet will be Wi-Fi, High Definition Video, Online Gaming, Online Shopping etc. Multiple and more connections between machines for faster communication will lead more consumption of internet. Smart Cars are prime examples of higher data bandwidth consuming devices. As international sporting events such as Cricket world cup, FIFA world cup, Olympics, Tennis Tournaments etc. are gaining more popularity nowadays, the online audience is also increasing, which in turn will generate excess traffic to the global internet protocol (IP). According to reports, as the FIFA world cup 2014 is ready to begin from the 12th June, 2014, huge number of people are expected to watch live or highlights of the games online via internet. More than 4 Exabyte of traffic to internet protocol is expected to be generated during FIFA world cup 2014 in Brazil, which is three times more than the normal monthly IP traffic there. In terms of Geo Graphic location, Asia Pacific will be the most IP traffic generating region as it is expected to generate more than 47 Exabyte per month (more than 35 percent of total global IP traffic) by year 2018. The other regions like United States, China, Middle East and Africa will also be the major role players as far as the Global Internet Protocol traffic generators are concerned. Hence, as the usage of internet will increase, no matter whether it is internet for home or internet for business, the internet service providers need to be one step ahead to be able to tackle all problems in the process of fulfilling the extreme internet requirements all over the world.
