    • Why is there a pool in TC?
      • The Teachers College Aquatic Center is one of the oldest indoor pools in the nation. It was built in 1904 as part of the Frederik Ferris Thompson Memorial Building. It is designed in the style of a Roman Bath. It closed in August 2008 and underwent $1 million in maintenance and repairs.
    • What is EarthFriends ?
      • EarthFriends is a program from the Center for Food & Environment at TC. Its goal is to teach students about "the whole story of food," including how it is grown, processed, packaged, shipped, and cooked. The story of food includes teaching students how to be an EarthFriend--someone who makes good decisions for him/herself and for the earth.     • How many floors comprise the Gottesman Libraries?
      • The Gottesman Libraries has 5 floors. It serves as the education library for the entire Columbia University community. It contains extensive collections within the fields of psychology, history, philosophy of education, and more.     • Whose busts are in the lobby of Zankel Hall?
      • (1) John Dewey: Teacher and Philosopher
      • (2) James Earl Russell: Dean of TC 1897-1927
    • What is Milbank Chapel used for?
      • At one point, Milbank Chapel was used exclusively to hold religious ceremonies for students and faculty of TC.
      • Currently, the gilded walls and decorated ceiling house a multitude of events from lectures to voice lessons and recitals.
    • Who uses the art studios in the basement of Macy Hall?
      • Most art and art education courses are taught in Macy where students take full advantage of the printmaking, sculpture, and ceramics studios located a world away from the ordinary treks across the TC campus.
    • What is the Hollingworth Center?
      • The Hollingworth Center is a program within the Department of Curriculum and Teaching at TC.
      • It develops model education programs and offers "enriched educational services for children, families, and educators."
      • One robust program from the Center is the Hollingworth Preschool.
