History <ul><li>Paris is the capital of France and the country’s largest city. </li></ul><ul><li>P aris is more than 2,000 years old. </li></ul><ul><li>The city was founded towards the end of the third century B.C. on a isle in the middle of what is now Paris </li></ul><ul><li>The city was occupied by the Germans in World War II from June 14, 1940, to August 25, 1944. </li></ul>

Atmosphere <ul><li>Paris has an oceanic climate . </li></ul><ul><li>Paris has warm summers with average high temperatures </li></ul><ul><li>Spring and fall have mild days and cool evenings </li></ul><ul><li>Rainfall could occur at any time of the year, and although not a very rainy city, Paris is known for its sudden showers. </li></ul>

    5. 5. Shopping <ul><li>Paris department stores are famous worldwide for being great places for shopping. </li></ul><ul><li>The Grands Magasins is a great place for shopping </li></ul><ul><li>The Champs-Elysées avenue is another great shopping area with many malls. </li></ul>

Nightlife <ul><li>Not only is Paris the city of light, but of sound, music, dance, and revelry. </li></ul><ul><li>For the early birds: The Barrio Latino closes at 2am, but offers a lot of bang for your buck. </li></ul><ul><li>If you wish to see and be seen and money is no object, check out the legendary Place Vendome/St. Honoré for some quality people-watching </li></ul>

You can the bus, the Paris Bus system consists of 266 lines serviced by over 4,000 buses. </li></ul><ul><li>There are also companies that offer Boat Cruises up and down the Seine river. </li></ul><ul><li>The RER has 5 train lines that service the city as well as the surrounding suburbs. The RER will bring you in from outside Paris and will take you quickly across town. </li></ul>
