    Traditional Resumes - Presentation Transcript

    1. traditional resumes.
    2. there is little place for traditional resumes in modern job-searching.
    3. why?
    4. 3 main reasons:
    5. a tighter job market means increased competition, therefore more differentiation is needed to stand out from the crowd.
    6. current career patterns demonstrate that we change careers often.
    7. increased use of online creates increased pressure for a digital resume.
    8. so, what is a traditional resume?
    9. a traditional resume is document that outlines all the things wehave done in the past including employment history, education etc.
    10. that’s great.
    11. that’s great.
      if you are applying for a role that requires 5+ years experience.
    12. problem.
    13. nobody has 5+ years experience anymore
    14. because we change careers often.
    15. there is a deficit between what we want to do and what we have done.
    16. a traditional resume is not enough to get you over the line.
    17. there needs to
      be a change.
    18. so, instead of providing a document of all the things we have done.
    19. why not provide a
      document of all the things we can do.
    20. pitch for work.
    21. pitch for work.
      rather than
      apply for jobs.
    22. there will be more emphasis on transferrable skills and less emphasis on years of experience.
