    Make connections.
    Be social.
    Wrap yourself around your industry.
    Do something remarkable.
    Demonstrate you can add value.
  • 3. Make Connections.

  • 4. Actions:
    • Target influential / high profile individuals within your industry and establish a rapport with them.
    • 5. Build a regular touch system with these connections.
    • 6. Where possible, meet these people both online and offline.
    Ideal Outcomes:
    • Increase your credibility by having influential / high profile connections .
    • 7. Get endorsed by these people; literally on Linkedin, but also by word-of-mouth, make your connections your brand ambassadors.
  • Be Social.

    • Build your profile online by being in multiple places at once (e.g. Linkedin, Twitter, Slideshare, Delicious)
    • 9. Comment on popular industry blogs and use the @ messaging function on twitter.
    • 10. Engage with others from your industry.
    Ideal Outcomes:
    • Become a familiar face within your industry.
    • 11. Drive traffic to your own blog / website.
    • 12. Overcome barriers such as trust, credibility, years of experience etc through familiarity.

    • 14. What associations or networks are they are member of? What events do they go to? What companies have they worked at? What are the ‘extra’s’ that they have done to get where they are today.

    • Positioning yourself and then wrapping that message around your industry by ‘popping-up’ everywhere.

    • Become known within your industry through word-of-mouth or publicity associated with an event or competition, because you did something that was worth remark.
  • Demonstrate you can add value.

    • Have a blog and create original content.
    • 20. When engaging in social media make an effort to be a solution provider.
    Ideal Outcome:
    • Build the equivalent to “years of experience” in a certain area or specialisation, through demonstrating your knowledge and ability to apply it.
