3. The formula for the axis of symmetry is x=-b/2a. Find the axis of symmetry of y=x2 + 6x – 2. A = 1 B = 6 C = -2 X = -b/2a = -6/2(1) = -3 So x = 3

4. We know that x = 3 is the axis of symmetry for y = x2 + 6x – 2. How do we find the turning point? Substitute in x to find y!!! y = (3)2 + 6(3) – 2 y = 9 + 18 - 2 y = 25 Every turning point must be written as (x, y) so the turning point of this parabola is (3, 25).
