I was not WISE enough to choose engineering as my career when I entered college at the age of 16. Instead I chose to be an Economist. Yet, my first BIG BREAK came with the opportunity to launch and then lead a new technology organization working hand-in-hand with an incredible group of engineers.

Over a 30 year journey, that has taken me around the world over 20 times, and has spanned a continuum including semiconductors, high tech electronics, industrial distribution, and biotechnology, I've had the opportunity to build businesses, lead in for-profit and not-for-profit organizations, and in our community.

Along the way, I learned Five C’s that have made all the difference – and I'm ready to share –

  • Connections – Community –Contribution -  Collaboration –Career  Where are you going and how will you get there?  Who will join you on the journey and help you along the way?  Who will you help?   In 2010, for the first time ever, women will be more that 50% of the workforce.  What is your strategy for  developing the Connections you need to succeed, engage with your Community, be viewed as a meaningful Contributor so you can  Collaborate with others and plan where you want to take your Career are more important than ever. 
  • In 2010 women will be 50% of the work force
  • The needs and opportunities for rolling up your sleeves and getting involved are multiplying like rabbits
  • Your network, connections, and personal brand are the catalyst, the spark that gets things started.
  • When you make a REAL contribution – in your field – in your community – in your life – you build things that no wave washes away
  • Maybe you can do it all alone – but why would you? And what will it cost?
  • Having it all – is possible – as long as you – for yourself – can truly define what ALL is.
  • Know your direction – map it out- when one path dead-ends – blaze another – Your Values are your Compass – Follow them and you will never get lost.
