  2. 2. General info that you should know. <ul><li>It happened from Sept.28,1781 to Oct.19,1781 </li></ul><ul><li>Cornwallis was out numbered about 2.3 to 1. </li></ul><ul><li>It was in Yorktown Virginia. </li></ul><ul><li>IT ENDED THE WAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! </li></ul>
  3. 3. SOMETHING IMPORTANT! THE BATTLE OF VIRGINIA CAPES While G. Washington was marching his army to Yorktown, British ships were coming to aid Cornwallis. If the French fleet had not held them off, Cornwallis would have gotten reinforcements, and would have been able to escape. Who knows who would have won then. But, the French fleet,led by Admiral Grasse held them off. They also contributed to the seige by making escape by sea impossible for Cornwallis.

  6. 6. What happened after? <ul><li>After weeks of siege, Cornwallis surrendered. </li></ul><ul><li>Cornwallis faked being sick to avoid the surrender ceremony. The 2nd in command surrendered, and the Revolutionary war was pretty much over. It officially ended in 1783. </li></ul>
