And I will removethe heart of stone from your flesh andgive you a heart of flesh. 27 And I willput my Spirit within you, and cause youto walk in my statutes and be careful toobey my rules. 28 You shall dwell in theland that I gave to your fathers, and youshall be my people, and I will be yourGod.
  8. 1 Peter 4:7-147 The end of all things is at hand;therefore be self-controlled and sober-minded for the sake of your prayers.8Above all, keep loving one anotherearnestly, since love covers a multitudeof sins. 9 Show hospitality to oneanother without grumbling. 10 As eachhas received a gift, use it to serve oneanother, as good stewards of Godsvaried grace: 11 whoever speaks, as onewho speaks oracles of God; whoeverserves, as one who serves by thestrength that God supplies—in orderthat in everything God may be glorifiedthrough Jesus Christ. To him belongglory and dominion forever and ever.Amen.Suffering as a Christian12 Beloved, do not be surprised at thefiery trial when it comes upon you totest you, as though something strangewere happening to you. 13 But rejoiceinsofar as you share Christssufferings, that you may also rejoice andbe glad when his glory is revealed. 14 Ifyou are insulted for the name ofChrist, you are blessed, because theSpirit of glory and of God rests upon

  10. Psalm 51:1-12Create in Me a Clean Heart, O GodTo the choirmaster. A Psalm ofDavid, when Nathan the prophet went tohim, after he had gone in to Bathsheba.51 Have mercy on me, O God,according to your steadfast love;according to your abundant mercyblot out my transgressions.2 Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin!3 For I know my transgressions, and my sin is ever before me.4 Against you, you only, have I sinnedand done what is evil in your sight,so that you may be justified in your wordsand blameless in your judgment.5 Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity, and in sin did my mother conceive me.6 Behold, you delight in truth in theinward being, and you teach me wisdom in the secretheart.7 Purge me with hyssop, and I shall beclean;wash me, and I shall be whiter thansnow.8 Let me hear joy and gladness;let the bones that you have brokenrejoice.9 Hide your face from my sins, and blot out all my iniquities.10 Create in me a clean heart, O God,and renew a right spirit within me.11 Cast me not away from your presence, and take not your Holy Spirit from me.12 Restore to me the joy of yoursalvation, and uphold me with a willing spirit.
  11. SEVENTH SUNDAY OF EASTER (Exaudi)Ezekiel 36:22–281 Peter 4:7–11 (12–14)John 15:26—16:4The Spirit of Truth Bears Witness to JesusThe Spirit of Truth bears witness to Jesus, who is the truth. But the world does not receivethe truth. It loves its own and hates those who are of the truth. Just as Jesus wasscorned, so is His Church. ―The hour is coming when whoever kills you will think he isoffering service to God‖ (John 16:2). Yet it is by Jesus‘ suffering and death that we aresaved. Therefore we rejoice to share in His sufferings, that we may also share in Hisresurrection glory (1 Pet. 4:7–14). Through the ministry of the Spirit of Truth, we arecleansed from the deceit of our idols and given a new heart and a new spirit, the heart andSpirit of Christ (Ezek. 36:22–28). He now works in us fervent, self-giving love for oneanother, love which covers a multitude of sins, ―that in everything God may be glorifiedthrough Jesus Christ. To him belong glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen‖ (1 Pet.4:11).
  12. Create in me a clean heart, O God,And renew a right spirit within me.Cast me not away from Thy presence,And take not Thy Holy Spirit from me.Restore unto me the joy of Thysalvation,And uphold me with Thy free spirit.Amen.
  13.  The Day of Pentecost: TheHoly Spirit Gives Peace Gen. 11:1-9 The Tower ofBabel Acts 2:1-21 The Coming of theHoly Spirit; Peter‘s Sermon atPentecost John 14:23-31 Jesus Promisesthe Holy Spirit Psalm 143 My Soul Thirsts forYou
  14. Gen. 11:1-9; Acts 2:1-21; John 14:23-31; Psalm 143Genesis 11:1-9The Tower of Babel11 Now the whole earth had one language and the samewords. 2 And as people migrated from the east, they found aplain in the land of Shinar and settled there. 3 And they saidto one another, ―Come, let us make bricks, and burn themthoroughly.‖ And they had brick for stone, and bitumen formortar. 4 Then they said, ―Come, let us build ourselves acity and a tower with its top in the heavens, and let us makea name for ourselves, lest we be dispersed over the face ofthe whole earth.‖ 5 And the LORDcame down to see the cityand the tower, which the children of man had built. 6 Andthe LORD said, ―Behold, they are one people, and they haveall one language, and this is only the beginning of what theywill do. And nothing that they propose to do will now beimpossible for them. 7 Come, let us go down and thereconfuse their language, so that they may not understand oneanothers speech.‖8 So the LORD dispersed them from thereover the face of all the earth, and they left off building thecity. 9 Therefore its name was called Babel, because therethe LORD confused the language of all the earth. And fromthere the LORD dispersed them over the face of all the earth.Acts 2:1-21The Coming of the Holy Spirit2 When the day of Pentecost arrived, they were all togetherin one place. 2 And suddenly there came from heaven asound like a mighty rushing wind, and it filled the entirehouse where they were sitting. 3 And divided tongues as offire appeared to them and rested on each one of them. 4 Andthey were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speakin other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance.5 Now there were dwelling in Jerusalem Jews, devout menfrom every nation under heaven. 6 And at this sound themultitude came together, and they were bewildered, becauseeach one was hearing them speak in his ownlanguage.7 And they were amazed andastonished, saying, ―Are not all these who arespeaking Galileans? 8 And how is it that we hear, each of usin his own native language? 9 Parthians and MedesandElamites and residents of Mesopotamia, Judea andCappadocia, Pontus and Asia,10 Phrygia andPamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya belonging toCyrene, and visitors from Rome, 11 both Jewsandproselytes, Cretans and Arabians—we hear them tellingin our own tongues the mighty works of God.‖ 12 And allwere amazed and perplexed, saying to one another, ―Whatdoes this mean?‖ 13 But others mocking said, ―They arefilled with new wine.‖Peters Sermon at Pentecost14 But Peter, standing with the eleven, lifted up his voice andaddressed them: ―Men of Judea and all who dwell inJerusalem, let this be known to you, and give ear to mywords. 15 For these people are not drunk, as yousuppose, since it is only the third hour of the day. 16 But thisis what was uttered through the prophet Joel:17 ―‗And in the last days it shall be, God declares, that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh, and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams;18 even on my male servants and female servantsin those days I will pour out my Spirit, and they shallprophesy.19 And I will show wonders in the heavens aboveand signs on the earth below, blood, and fire, and vapor of smoke;20 the sun shall be turned to darknessand the moon to blood, before the day of the Lord comes, the great andmagnificent day.21 And it shall come to pass thateveryone who calls upon thename of the Lord shall be saved.‘John 14:23-3123 Jesus answered him, ―If anyone loves me, he will keepmy word, and my Father will love him, and we will come tohim and make our home with him. 24 Whoever does not loveme does not keep my words. And the word that you hear isnot mine but the Fathers who sent me.25 ―These things I have spoken to you while I am still withyou. 26 But theHelper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father willsend in my name, he will teach you all things and bring toyour remembrance all that I have said to you. 27 Peace Ileave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the worldgives do I give to you.Let not your hearts betroubled, neitherlet them be afraid. 28 You heard me say toyou, ‗I am going away, and I will come to you.‘ If youloved me, you would have rejoiced, because I am going tothe Father, for the Father is greater than I.29 And now I havetold you before it takes place, so that when it does takeplace you may believe. 30 I will no longer talk much withyou, for the ruler of this world is coming. He has no claimon me,31 but I do as the Father has commanded me, so thatthe world may know that I love the Father. Rise, let us gofrom here.Psalm 143My Soul Thirsts for YouA Psalm of David.143 Hear my prayer, O LORD;give ear to my pleas for mercy! In your faithfulness answer me, in your righteousness!2 Enter not into judgment with your servant, for no one living is righteousbefore you.3 For the enemy has pursued my soul;he has crushed my life to the ground;he has made me sit in darkness like those long dead.4 Therefore my spirit faints within me;my heart within me is appalled.5 I remember the days of old;I meditate on all that you have done;I ponder the work of your hands.6 I stretch out my hands to you;my soul thirsts for you like a parched land. Selah7 Answer me quickly, O LORD!My spirit fails!Hide not your face from me,lest I be like those who go down to the pit.8 Let me hear in the morning of your steadfast love, for in you I trust.Make me know the way I should go,for to you I lift up my soul.9 Deliver me from my enemies, OLORD!I have fled to you for refuge.10 Teach me to do your will, for you are my God!Let your good Spirit lead meon level ground!11 For your names sake, O LORD,preserve my life!In your righteousness bring my soul out of trouble!12 And in your steadfast love you willcut off my enemies, and you will destroy all the adversaries of my soul, for I am your servant.
