Specifically to John's point on slides 23-24, through Intellect UK (www.intellectuk.org/docman) we have just launched an executive guide to Document Management, that looks specifically at the key learnings and issues associated with DM implementations.

It's titled 'Document management concerns the whole board - a guide for all directors' and you can find it here: http://www.intellectuk.org/content/view/3692/83/.

What's particularly interesting, is that the paper (and especially the 'Implementing document management - recommended practices and lessons learned' guide that follows it) has beed authored by practitioners in the field (from vendors such as IBM, OpenText, Xerox, etc. as well as independent consultants) who have all been there, done it and have the scars to prove it... It's therefore vendor-agnostic and practical, rather than marketing-ware!

We need an 'ECM for Dummies' approach to spread the word. No big surprise here in that people that matter don't really know what ECM means or is about. We have to stop 'protecting our professional turf' and just get on with it in a plain language style that gets the point across.

Interesting presentation. No real surprises, we are preaching to the converted. The trick is to get this information in a more detailed statistical format and put it in front of risk managers, CFOs, CIOs and others with responsibility for the intellectual assets of organizations.
