Name & Duration of the CourseThis is a one year course and the name of the course shall be Master of Philosophyin Social Work.Course DescriptionThe M.Phil course is a comprehensive program which covers all the different aspectsof Social Work. While the course is primarily theoretical, there is a good blend ofcase studies and visits to NGOs to enable the students to undertake research workand thus it will enable them in conducting research in different areas of Social Work.Objectives To prepare them for undertaking higher responsibilities in such areas as socialwork education, research, policy formulation, planning and administration To promote scientific enquiry that further develops the social work profession. To support training of social workers and researchers wishing to pursue higherdegrees in Social Work.Learning OutcomesThe expected learning outcomes are: Develop analytical skills to analyze information through the application of socialscience research methodologies. Ability to locate and evaluate in a critical manner relevant sources for a researchproject in the area of Social Work Ability to conduct research and build skills in a field of specialization in SocialWork To draw policy implications or to make informed decisions based on researchfindings
