M.PhilName & Duration of the CourseThis is a one year course and the name of the course shall be Master of Philosophy(M.Phil.)Course DescriptionThe M.Phil course is a comprehensive program which has scope to cover all thedifferent aspects of Mass Communication and Journalism and provides students withPost Graduation in the area of Media and Communication Studies opportunities topursue further in their area of interest and specialisation. While the course is primarilytheoretical, there is a good blend of projects, case studies and industrial visits to enablea student to get well-versed with the functioning of the Industry and Academia. Thestudents have to complete three advanced courses on Research Methodology, MassCommunication theories and Advances in Media Studies. They also require conductinga research work and submitting the dissertation report.Objectives To provide an advanced course of study to post-graduates in MassCommunication and Journalism To provide training required for undertaking research work and to train them toconduct research in different areas of Mass Communication and Journalism To prepare them for undertaking higher responsibilities in such areas highereducation, research, policy formulation, planning and administration in mediaindustry.Learning OutcomesThe program aims to provide the student with analytical, methodological, and work-related skills.
