  • Professor Jeffrey V Rosenfeld AM, OBE is an internationally recognized neurosurgeon, leading Australian academic surgeon and senior Australian Military Surgeon. He is Professor and Head, Division of Clinical Sciences and Department of Surgery, Monash University, Director Neurosurgery, The Alfred, Adjunct Professor in Surgery, F. Edward Hébert School of Medicine, Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USUHS), Bethesda, Maryland, USA and Adjunct Professor Centre for Military and Veterans’ Health (CMVH), The University of Queensland. He is a Major General in the Australian Army and former Surgeon General, Australian Defence Force – Reserves who has served on seven ADF operations over the last 12 years. He is currently Chair, Australian Defence Human Research Ethics Committee (ADHREC). He is a world authority on military trauma particularly bomb blast injury. His research at Monash University primarily involves traumatic brain injury and bionic vision device development. He is an international leader in surgery for hypothalamic hamartomas which cause severe epilepsy in children. He has published 215 peer reviewed publications, 40 book chapters and 2 books. He has made a strong humanitarian contribution through the Pacific Islands Project (PIP) delivering specialist surgical services to the Pacific Island nations especially Papua New Guinea (PNG) where he is a Professor to the University of PNG Medical School. He is President of the Graduate Union, University of Melbourne, Chair, Victorian Neurotrauma Advisory Committee (VNAC) a contributor to Rotary International (Paul Harris Fellow), previous Commissioner of St John Ambulance Australia - Victoria and past President United Nations Association of Australia (UNAA) (Vic) and National Vice President. He has received many awards both nationally and internationally for his medical, community and military achievements.
