  3. 3. Market Leaders  File Sharing: SkyDrive, Dropbox  Video Conferencing: Skype, iChat  Social Media: Facebook, Twitter  Instant Messaging: SMS, email
  4. 4. SkyDrive  Does not list unregistered users that have access to the documents. It only lists them when they edit them.  No option to chat with other collaborators editing the same document at the same time  Users cannot play or stream multimedia content such as music or videos. They can only download them . Pros Cons SkyDrive is Microsoft’s cloud service that allows its users to backup, store and accesses their documents on the cloud. 7GB are offered for free.  It works on Windows, Mac OS X, iOS, and the Android OS. A Microsoft or SkyDrive account is not required to access the uploaded files.  It features Office Web apps that allows users to edit documents in computers that do not have Microsoft Office installed.  It features a link shortener that facilitates the sharing of the file’s link. It also has a built-in social media sharing option.

Skype  Skype is one of the cheapest VOIP available, and offers unlimited minute subscriptions.  It is easy to use and easy install and it works with not much configuration  provides a real phone number so non-Skype users can call you  Provides Voicemail, to answer your calls when you are away from your computer.  You must have a smart phone or Internet access to use  quality of sound with VoIP is not as good as a landline or mobile phone  Poor video chat quality  lacking call return, call blocking (lacking call features) Pros Cons Skype is a free voice-over-IP service and instant messenger client currently developed by the Microsoft Skype Division. Skype was first released in August 2003 and is a hybrid peer-to-peer and client–server system.
  6. 6. SMS/GroupMe Mobility is key. Users can communicate using their smart phones anywhere and any time. Free of charge. Quick way to contact each other. Allows all users, who are part of the group, to see messages exchanged between each other. Messages can get irrelevant and off topic due to quick messaging. If a user does not keep up with each message they receive, they will be left with a lot of messages to read, making it confusing to understand the conversation. Misinterpretation of reading messages. Paragraph form is not a norm with texting. Pros Cons •SMS (Short Message Service) is a way of quick messaging between mobile phones under a phone plan . When an SMS message is sent, the cell phone tower transfers the message through the control channel. Users can send texts, pictures, and other multimedia through SMS messaging. •GroupMe is an application that allows users to send messages to groups of people using data on their smart phone. This application is free to download and uses data instead of text messaging through phone plans.
  7. 7. @E-mail  Can be prepared and saved when you already to reply.  Can be forward the message.  Can attach files and images.  Some emails may be sent as spam.  Sometimes need to wait a long time to get a reply.  Some people have different email addresses or they may change their email addresses when they switch their jobs. Pros Cons Email is the one of the most commonly contact tool since 1993, as we can see, people know email very well than other contact tools. Below are some pro’s and con’s about E-mail.

Facebook  Notifications appear within seconds along with notifications to the person and/or groups cell phone, Ipod, or any smartphone device  Files, data, pictures, videos, and downloads can be shared instantly through either normal messaging or instant messaging  The platform is simple yet constantly changing to meet demands of the people, pricing is free, and its available to anyone around internet or who has service on their smart device.  Security and privacy are always an issue with sites social media and people are always looking for ways to access peoples information  There is not a feature created to where you can audio or video conference yet even though it doesn't seem like a long-shot for the developers of Facebook  Couldn't be used to run a business as much as it would be used to promote a business Pros Cons Facebook is likely the biggest social networking site in the world so its easy to understand why it would be considered one of the bigger collaboration tools available.

GROUP’S FAVORITE TOOLS  Members of the group already had an account and were active users.  Has instant message features but it is less intrusive  Documents, pictures and others files can be attached.  Does not require an account to view or edit the files.  It’s built in web apps has Microsoft Office’s same interface.  Works in different platforms. The group decided to use Facebook and SkyDrive for the following reasons
