Immersive Web Games:Movin’ on up and out of the Flash ghetto J.L. Laquinte
What this project is. My project is to create a digital narrative in the form of a game. This 2D action and adventure game will focus on recreating the immersive experience we get from console games (Nintendo, Playstation, etc..) I would like to challenge the negative criticisms of games made in Flash and address the question of whether Flash games can provide a fully immersive narrative experience in the same way a console game can.

Questions that keep me up at night If console games aren’t at a point where they are largely considered art, where does that put people who make web games? Are web games advancing the field of gaming and executing the idea of meaningful play?
Lets make Flash Games - I’ve started a digital narrative created in Flash that is in Alpha Mode. It’s being programmed in Actionscript 3 and it uses the Flixel Framework.
The audience will be primarily gamers, people who enjoy narrative driven games, or people who just enjoy digital narrative.
The genre is fantasy/adventure. The main theme of the story is pride and betrayal.
For my final I will produce the first 30 minutes to 1 hour of gameplay.
Lets make Flash Games What will differentiate this from other flash games?
I plan to employ techniques to move away from the common experience of web games surrounded by ads.
The final product will take multiple hours of playtime to complete.
-Through the time it takes to play the game and proper use of story telling I am hoping to generate a cathartic response from the gameplay.
