      • Russians found the drawings of biathlon that was made about 4000 years ago
      • Swedish Bishop Olaus Magnus published a book in 1539, which is based on winter sports including biathlon.
      • Between 16 th and 18 th centuries, biathlon developed in Norwegian and Swedish army.
      • Biathlon contest was played as a sport in 1924, 1928, 1936 and 1948.
      • Biathlon was officially accepted by International Olympic Committee(IOC) in1949.
      • Biathlon in Olympic events was held in 1960 at the Squaw Valley.

      • 20km for men and 15km for women
      • The oldest biathlon event
      • 5 laps
      • The biathlete shoots 4 times at any shooting lane
      • A fixed penalty time is added to the skiing time of the biathlete

      • The biathlete shoots twice at any shooting lane
      • 150 m must be skied before the race can be continued, if there’s a penalty
