  • The concept of 3D motion picture is not new
    3D was first introduced back during the turn of the 20th Century (J.Perenson, 2010)

  • But with the releases of current 3D movies, such Avatar and Alice in Wonderland, 3D is back and soon will be invading homes everywhere.

  • 3D is here to stay!
  • Last year alone 17 3D films were released in theaters (J.Perenson, 2010)
    Every manufacturer has revealed its 3D plans for 2010 (J.Perenson, 2010)
    Which will also bring 3D-enabled Blu-Ray players in right around the same time
    3D’s Progress
  • For filmmakers, a 3D camera will arrive in the fall (J.Perenson, 2010)
    In June, ESPN launched 85 sporting events in 3D (ESPN, 2010)
    And Sony is partnering with Discovery and Imax to have a 3D channel by 2011(Lieberman, 2010)

  • The race is on to get new 3D TVs into stores -- and homes.
    Panasonic has already released there first model of 3D Television
    Bob Perry, Panasonic senior vice president.
    “Our belief is that the American consumer has experienced 3D and thinks it is pretty cool," and "There is a great opportunity to create a different (3D) experience in homes and in theaters (Snider, 2010) .”

  • Panasonic's Perry also says. "We believe a significant proportion of consumers are going to buy a 3D TV and future-proof themselves(Snider, 2010) ."
  • Mitsubishi's Frank DeMartin said “This is really an easy plug-and-play system the consumer can use to enjoy 3D now and then be ready when these 3D movie releases come out,“ and that “Game publishers have "more 3D games in the pipeline," he says, "and movies is the second wave(Snider, 2010) .“
  • Sony sets a high goal that of their total sales out of 25 million LCD TVs, 10% will be 3D TVs(Paul, 2010)

    Burns also noted that f ESPN 3D launched with the FIFA World Cup from South Africa. Seven years ago,, ESPN announced ESPN HD. And it helped grow HD to the point that most American homes now get HDTV(ESPN, 2010). “

  • This year, families will have the opportunity to experience a 3D movie experience at home
