Biography <br />ALMAS BAND ... defending a lifestyle<br /> The twins formed this original band in New Orleans in 1999. Inspired by the cultural and musical fusion of this place. They performed repeated times in the famous "House of Blues", where they had the opportunity to share the stage with artists like Juanes, Carlos Vives, Enrique Bunbury and the legendary Rubén Blades.<br /> <br /> Back in Puerto Rico, in 2007 ALMAS released their debut album titled “Semilla”. They played in the local scene and shared the stage with Cultura Profética, La Secta, Tego Calderón and the Grammy winning black: guayaba, amongst others.<br /> In 2009 ALMAS BAND released their second album, Audiotour, a celebration of diversity. In which one can appreciate the musical evolution of the twins, keeping the funk style that characterizes the band and the fusion of rhythms that influences them like rock, funk and reggae. <br /> In 2010 Jose and Jorge Colón began a new facet in the entertainment industry as hosts of a local TV show "Puerto Rico Underground” broadcasted by America CV Network. A program aimed at showing young people a Puerto Rico that few people know. ALMAS BAND had the opportunity to collaborate with Cuco Peña in the theme song for a puertorrican television production that can be seen in Telemundo, PR.. Towards the end of the year the producers of the Barefoot Film Company choose five songs from Audiotour to be part of the movie Elite. The movie has been touring throughout the USA and Latin America in several film festivals. Jose and Jorge also collaborated in Salsaa tribute to El Gran Combo which has sold over 100,000 copies and was awarded a gold record that year.<br /> 2011 has proven to be a good year for the band, they are in the process of recording their third album . Jose & Jorge Colón have been offered to be hosts of a local TV station, Popular TV for Banco Popular of Puerto Rico which is the most important banks in the Caribbean. ALMAS BAND second independent album “AUDIOTOUR” CD Release Concert huge success on a mid-sized club in Santurce, P.R. La Respuesta more than one thousand people came for the show not having enough space for all of them.
ALMAS BAND at Hard Rock Café Puerto Rico for a Halloween Show.

ALMAS BAND opened for the well-known reggae band Cultura Profética at La Respuesta presented by Banco Popular de PR.
ALMAS BAND collaborated with "Banco Popular" to be part of the album SALSA a tribute to "El Gran Combo" which was awarded a gold record in the USA for selling 100,000 copies. </li></li></ul><li>2011 Almas Band Accomplishments<br />February 2011 <br />ALMAS BAND played an exhibition called RAW for the photographer Nina MéndezMartí at GaleríaYemayá.<br />ALMAS BAND donated their music for a benefit held for the Silent Grace Foundation at La Respuesta, Santurce, PR.<br />March 2011<br />Jose & Jorge began a new phase as hosting several segments for Popular TV. A channel that Banco Popular of Puerto Rico owns, which has over 4 million viewers. <br />April 2011<br />Jose & Jorge spent an afternoon with the students of School of Liberal Arts specialized in music. They spent the afternoon talking about their music career. <br />May 2011<br />An album of compilation of reggae bands in the Island was released called: “SembrandoSemillas: SegundaCosecha” In which the song “Guerrero” of Almas Band second album was featured. <br />June 2011<br />ALMAS BAND had the opportunity to play in the biggest independent music fest, the Coors Light Indie Fest. It took place in Aguadilla, PR.<br />August 2011<br />They released the single “Háblame De Ti” and are on a mediatour. <br />ALMAS BAND wrote the score for and independent film “On a Memory’s Thread” by César R. Castillo.<br />September 2011<br />They released their video “Háblame De Ti” @ La Respuesta, PR in front of media and special guests from the entertainment and business industry.<br />ALMAS BAND participated in the concert of Puerto Rican icons Fiel a La Vega & Friends @ the Botanical Gardens in Caguas, PR. <br />
