Chapter V CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS This chapter brings together the results presented within the previouschapter. Moreover, the importance of the thesis is completely stressed out and afinal impression on the readers is emphasized.Conclusion 1. The people in each barangay are knowledgeable in terms of Proper Waste Management. 2. Most of the people in each barangay are not informed regarding the waste management programs that are implemented within their community. 3. People think that proper waste management is important. 4. People are knowledgeable about proper waste management, but the application is not manifested. 5. Not all the people in each barangay practice recycling of waste materials. 6. There is no collection of waste materials that is for the purpose of recycling in each barangay. 7. The people do not apply composting of kitchen wastes in their homes. 8. People think that waste management programs are not implemented effectively in their barangay. 9. In terms of disposing garbage, collection of garbage from houses and is being taken to the landfill, is the common method.
10. The use of plastic bags is the most common storage of garbage prior to disposal. 11. The people in each barangay could actually produce more than 7 bags of garbage per week. 12. Lots of various solid waste problems are present in each barangay. In general, the most common solid waste problems are trash left in and/oraround the community, animals scavenging around yards, landfill, and/or dumpsite, and lack of education of community members on proper handling anddisposal of garbage and other household wastes. The people are aware ofproper waste management and its importance, however, the application is notclearly manifested. Moreover, the different barangay do not effectively implementproper solid waste management, thus, officials should take an action regardingthis problem.
RecommendationBased from our findings, we recommend the following:For the different Barangay in Sta. Ana: An action regarding effective implementation of proper wastemanagement should be carried out. In line with that, the people can know what itis all about and at the same time get aware of the different waste problemspresent within the barangay.For the people in each barangay: Application of proper waste management should take place, consideringthe fact that knowledge regarding proper waste management is present.For the Government: There should be security in terms of effectiveness of proper wastemanagement in the different barangay and should also make sure that thebarangay will obliged the people within their community to apply proper wastemanagement in and outside their homes.
