Context
EdShare is the University share – EdSpace was the JISC funded project
The objective - to provide an infrastructure that allows academics to share everyday educational resources with whatever audience is appropriate
built on Web 2.0 principles and with strategic University leadership for educational change
ECS (academic group), EPrints (enterprise service), Library and iSolutions (specialist professional academic services)

Where the Project is:
We have been in service since September 2008
EdSpace Project funded period ended April 2009
Benefits Realisation:
collaborative work to extend the take up of EdShare
(2 institutions + 1 HEA subject centre)
2 Assemblies – held as workshops based on core themes from EdSpace (Web 2.0 and sharing; IPR)
New JISC-funded OneShare Project is supporting further work:
Wrapped, implementable version of package
User profile application
Preview tool
Implement shared editorial permissions
Integration between VLE (Blackboard) and EdShare

Motivations
UK HE strategic drive for open educational resources
UoS has a new VC, and is developing a new education strategy
We would like people to share
Improve efficiency – less replication
Improve resources for student
Improve communication
EdShare’s lightweight, low threshold approach has won support
We plan to review the role of the institutional VLE
