JISC Business and Community Engagement Programme – Streams and Objectives 5 EMBEDDING AND COMMUNICATING BCE Ensuring internal change & education within JISC with aim of embedding BCE in its operations, in Innovation and Services 4 ENABLING THE INTERFACE Enabling richer & more efficient, productive knowledge exchange & learning partnerships between institutions & BCE partners 3 ENABLING CHANGE Supporting and guiding institutions in making the process and technological changes (driven by strategic goals) to sustain efficient, effective BCE . 2 FACILITATING COLLABORATION Facilitating BCE collaboration and provision of service across and between institutions through enabling systems and technology . 1 ENHANCING KNOWLEDGE MANAGEMENT Supporting institutions in sustainable systems and ICT strategies for the enhanced management and exploitation of knowledge assets . 6 NEEDS ANALYSIS AND EVALUATION Basis of evidence for investment, formative and summative evaluation of effectiveness of interventions and benefits realised .

      • More effective management and promotion of resultant knowledge/expertise, offers and related business and market intelligence.
      1 ENHANCING KNOWLEDGE MANAGEMENT Supporting institutions in sustainable systems and ICT strategies for the enhanced management and exploitation of knowledge assets .
    3. JISC Business and Community Engagement Programme – Streams and Target Benefits 2 FACILITATING COLLABORATION Facilitating BCE collaboration and provision of service across and between institutions through enabling systems and technology . Tailored advice and guidance resulting in more productive and extensive collaboration within and across institutions and departments; ~ Process and outputs of institutions’ knowledge better packaged for external impact; ~ Reduced long-term system costs and enhanced opportunity for shared applications.
    4. JISC Business and Community Engagement Programme – Streams and Target Benefits 3 ENABLING CHANGE Supporting and guiding institutions in making the process and technological changes (driven by strategic goals) to sustain efficient, effective BCE . A more coherent and integrated cross-institutional approach to BCE; ~ Improved compatibility and synergy between relevant strategies, processes and systems; ~ Better connections and interoperation between BCE operations and key central functions such as information, administration and ICT services as well as marketing, procurement and human resources.

JISC Business and Community Engagement Programme – Streams and Target Benefits 4 ENABLING THE INTERFACE Enabling richer & more efficient, productive knowledge exchange & learning partnerships between institutions & BCE partners Improved and better controlled access to HEI/FEI knowledge assets; ~ More agile and visible institutional services for business and community organisations.

JISC Business and Community Engagement Programme – Streams and Target Benefits 5 EMBEDDING AND COMMUNICATING BCE Ensuring internal change & education within JISC with aim of embedding BCE in its operations, in Innovation and Services Enhanced knowledge and capability in JISC and the wider JISC community to support institutions and respond to their evolving needs and, indirectly, those of their partners and clients; ~ Enhanced understanding and awareness of BCE activities, benefits and opportunities and how JISC supports and enables them across the range of JISC audiences.
    7. JISC Business and Community Engagement Programme – Streams and Target Benefits 6 NEEDS ANALYSIS AND EVALUATION Basis of evidence for investment, formative and summative evaluation of effectiveness of interventions and benefits realised . Evidence of the extent to which the needs of the BCE communities (and by extension the needs of their clients and partners) are being adequately met through JISC’s BCE activities; ~ Evidence of the extent to which the target outcomes of the programme are being achieved through the realisation of benefits ~ Evidence of the contribution the programme is making to the national and institutional BCE (knowledge transfer and employer engagement) strategies.
