  2. 2. Marking Text<br />Underlining<br />Most done in ink<br />Use ruler as guide to keep neat<br />Highlighting<br />Use watercolor felt pen<br />Easy to spot<br />
  3. 3. Rules for Marking Text: #1 <br />Read paragraph BEFORE marking.<br />Select most important info one paragraph at a time.<br />Requires reading & thinking<br />Make conscious effort to determine important info<br />Don’t mark because it looks important<br />Is it important or extras?<br />

Rules for Marking Text: #2A<br />2) Select key words & phrases to mark<br />I.D. key words & ideas in paragraph<br />Sometimes key sentences too<br />Do NOT over mark – becomes ineffective<br />Purpose: Help review for tests or quick reference<br />Become to study notes<br />Use “?” to mark questionable comments<br />Place “*” for important info<br />
