    Use ruler as guide to keep neat
    Highlighting
    Use watercolor felt pen
    Easy to spot
  • 3. Rules for Marking Text: #1
    Read paragraph BEFORE marking.
    Select most important info one paragraph at a time.
    Requires reading & thinking
    Make conscious effort to determine important info
    Don’t mark because it looks important
    Is it important or extras?
  • 4. Rules for Marking Text: #2A
    2) Select key words & phrases to mark
    I.D. key words & ideas in paragraph
    Sometimes key sentences too
    Do NOT over mark – becomes ineffective
    Purpose: Help review for tests or quick reference
    Become to study notes
    Use “?” to mark questionable comments
    Place “*” for important info
  • 5. Rules for Marking Text: #2B
    Use “**” for MOST important info
    Determine all marked info as valuable
    Write notes in margins
    REVIEW marked material
    Make it worth your study time
  • 6. Rules for Marking Text: #3
    Use “standout” ink from text
    Highlighters
    Colored pencils
    Multi-colored ink pens
