    • New Jersey Assessment of Skills and Knowledge (NJ ASK) for Grades 3 through 8, administered in May (Grades 3 & 4) and late April/early May (Grades 5 – 8)
    • New Jersey High School Proficiency Assessment (NJ HSPA) for Grade 11, administered in March
    • New Jersey Biology Competency Test (NJBCT) for first year biology students, administered in mid-May
  • 3. State Assessments (continued)
    • Multiple-Choice and Open-Ended questions are utilized within all state assessments.
    • Language Arts Literacy covers the areas of:
          • Writing
          • Reading
          • Working with Text [Interpreting Text]
          • Analyzing/Critiquing Text

          • Numbers & Numerical Operations
          • Geometry and Measurement

    • Comparison to State and DFG (Cedar Grove is rated “I” on a scale of “A” to “J”)

        • Grade 4 Science at both North End & South End
        • Grade 5 Language Arts Literacy & Mathematics

    • Cedar Grove’s strongest area of performance exceeding DFG Advanced Proficient scoring:

    • Cedar Grove is trending forward …for example this year’s 11th Graders passed the HSPA ( Proficient & Advanced Proficient combined) at a higher rate than their performance on the 2008 NJ ASK8:
    • LAL – 92.9% in’08 vs. 95.2% in ’11
    • Math – 72.8% in ’08 vs. 78.9% in ’11

    • Teacher professional development plans formulated that address areas in need of improvement emphasizing data-driven decisions through Professional Learning Communities (PLCs)
    • Continued revision of curricula utilizing ATLAS with adoption of new textbooks to support curriculum
    • Continued streamlined scheduling in all elementary classrooms of three daily periods of LAL and two periods of Mathematics
    • Continual budgeting for Math Plus, Math Strategies, and Homework Alliance at MMS for 2012 – 2013.
