  1. 1. Part – 2Lesson Text:Mark 15:33-39 Maud church of Christ Sunday Evening March 31, 2013
  2. 2. 1 John 4:10 NKJV In this is love, not that we loved God, but that Heloved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
  3. 3. (4th Saying)Mark 15:33-36 NKJV Now when the sixth hour had come, there wasdarkness over the whole land until the ninth hour. (34) And at theninth hour Jesus cried out with a loudvoice, saying, "Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani?" which istranslated, "MY GOD, MY GOD, WHY HAVE YOU FORSAKENME?" [Ps. 22:1] (35) Some of those who stood by, when they heardthat, said, "Look, He is calling for Elijah!” (36) Then someone ranand filled a sponge full of sour wine, put it on a reed, and offeredit to Him to drink, saying, "Let Him alone; let us see if Elijah willcome to take Him down.”
  4. 4. Sin is DisgustingIsaiah 59:2 NKJV But your iniquities have separated you from yourGod; And your sins have hidden His face from you, So that He willnot hear.Habakkuk 1:13 NKJV You are of purer eyes than to behold evil, Andcannot look on wickedness. Why do You look on those who dealtreacherously, And hold Your tongue when the wicked devours Aperson more righteous than he?
  5. 5. (5th & 6th Saying)John 19:28-30 NKJV After this, Jesus, knowing that all things werenow accomplished, that the Scripture might be fulfilled, said, "Ithirst!" (29) Now a vessel full of sour wine was sitting there; andthey filled a sponge with sour wine, put it on hyssop, and put it toHis mouth. (30) So when Jesus had received the sour wine, Hesaid, "It is finished!" And bowing His head, He gave up His spirit.
  6. 6. (7th Saying)Luke 23:46 NKJV And when Jesus had cried out with a loudvoice, He said, "Father, INTO YOUR HANDS I COMMIT MYSPIRIT.’” [Ps. 31:5] Having said this, He breathed His last.
  7. 7. Matthew 27:51-54 NKJV Then, behold, the veil of the temple wastorn in two from top to bottom; and the earth quaked, and therocks were split, (52) and the graves were opened; and manybodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised; (53) andcoming out of the graves after His resurrection, they went intothe holy city and appeared to many. (54) So when the centurionand those with him, who were guarding Jesus, saw the earthquakeand the things that had happened, they fearedgreatly, saying, "Truly this was the Son of God!”
  8. 8. John 19:31-36 NKJV Therefore, because it was the PreparationDay, that the bodies should not remain on the cross on theSabbath (for that Sabbath was a high day), the Jews asked Pilatethat their legs might be broken, and that they might be takenaway. (32) Then the soldiers came and broke the legs of the firstand of the other who was crucified with Him. (33) But whenthey came to Jesus and saw that He was already dead, they did notbreak His legs.
  9. 9. John 19:31-36 continued (34) But one of the soldiers pierced His sidewith a spear, and immediately blood and water came out. (35)And he who has seen has testified, and his testimony is true; andhe knows that he is telling the truth, so that you may believe.(36) For these things were done that the Scripture should befulfilled, "NOT ONE OF HIS BONES SHALL BE BROKEN.”[Ps. 34:20]
  10. 10. 1 Corinthians 15:1-4 NKJV (1) Moreover, brethren, I declare to youthe gospel which I preached to you, which also you received and inwhich you stand, (2) by which also you are saved, if you hold fastthat word which I preached to you—unless you believed in vain.(3) For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: thatChrist died for our sins according to the Scriptures, (4) and thatHe was buried, and that He rose again the third day according tothe Scriptures,
  11. 11. Romans 5:8-10 NKJV But God demonstrates His own love towardus, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. (9) Muchmore then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall besaved from wrath through Him. (10) For if when we were enemieswe were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, muchmore, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life.
  12. 12. 2 Thessalonians 1:7-9 NKJV (7) and to give you who are troubledrest with us when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with Hismighty angels, (8) in flaming fire taking vengeance on those whodo not know God, and on those who do not obey the gospel of ourLord Jesus Christ. (9) These shall be punished with everlastingdestruction from the presence of the Lord and from the glory ofHis power,
  13. 13. Mark 16:15-16 NKJV And He said to them, "Go into all theworld and preach the gospel to every creature. (16) He whobelieves and is baptized will be saved; but he who does notbelieve will be condemned.Acts 8:12 NKJV But when they believed Philip as hepreached [the gospel] the things concerning the kingdom ofGod and the name of Jesus Christ, both men and womenwere baptized.
