What are the catalyst and obstacles to the development of these core competencies?<br />
3. 3. The keynote lecture focuses on big ideas of Singapore Math and the elective session focuses on problem solving. This session allows participants to review the ideas in the keynote lecture and elective sessions through the study of a lesson. <br />

This is a third grade problem-solving lesson which focuses on one of the big ideas in mathematics – the ability to see patterns and relationships and to make connections.<br />The anchor problem in the lesson is to arrange five given consecutive whole numbers such that the vertical total is equal to the horizontal total.<br />
